What do you like most about your profession?

Making a significant difference in the academic and/or professional (business included) lives of others in this forum or others outside. Ensuring that the clients have some skin in the game as much as I do to make this cooperation work well mutually. Being able to visualize the success with clients and also impart skills in them to take care of future needs by themselves. Kind of like giving them a fishing pole to feed themselves for the rest of their lives as opposed to some fish for a short time basis.

Recently in early 2014 (January) I was approached by a US veteran and while discussing mutual goals and objectives, it was eminent to me that he wanted to transition from his academic role at school to a FTE in the corporate world. The value I have been creating for my customers is by having them link the service I offer directly to an increased revenue for their business and/or their career. Secondly, it is vital that my customers and I enjoy the journey we travel together rather than celebrating the achieved destination. Farina, Srikanth Nanguneri US Patent # 5407580 A process for effectively and economically separating an ionic component such as acid from a nonionic component such as sugar in polar solutions using ion exclusion technology whereby the viability of using hydrolysis to convert wood and agricultural waste products such as corn stover into fuel alcohol is substantially effective. Underlying the gist of this invention are newly discovered methods by which dispersion, caused by shrinkage of resin within ion exclusion columns, is controlled resulting in operation of such columns, over a wide range of process conditions to produce separate and distinct elution profiles for the acid and sugar. Successful operation of these new ion exclusion methods, techniques, and systems can replace lime precipitation which currently is being used in acid hydrolysis processing.

Acid/Sugar Separation Using Ion Exclusion Resins: A Process Analysis and Design

The economic feasibility of using acid hydrolysis to convert agricultural waste products, such as corn stovers, to alcohol is very dependent upon developing a cost effective sulfuric acid- glucose sugar separation process. Presently, an acid-sugar stream from sulfuric acid hydrolysis of cellulose is treated with lime to precipitate the acid as gypsum. This technique not only consumes acid and lime, but also generates waste gypsum that is sent to a landfill. An ion exclusion process to perform acid-sugar separation has been designed using standard resins. Economic analysis based on a process computer model indicates that ion exclusion is 40 % less costly than a lime precipitation process.

The effect of shear rate, temperature, and fibre concentration on the melt viscosity and viscoelastic properties have been studied.
