Dr. John Answered: Do I really need a logo?

Taylor calls herself a foodie, because when she isn't working you can find her in the closest city trying out new restaurants. She also claims to like hiking and snowboarding in the mountains. I don't know where she finds the time. She is always available making sure I'm getting the most out of the mosaicHUB experience. The dedication of this online "social butterfly" extends to weekend duty. More than once I start work on Monday to find questions of mine resolved. Her skills in customer relationship management and promotion are top rate. I don't always get the answer I want, but I admire her professionalism. Thank you Taylor.

Starting a business may be May-Alice’s toughest challenge. But I’m so glad she did it. By launching MosaicHUB, an online community created to help entrepreneurs find the people and resources they need to succeed; she has created an online “home” for me and others like me.

I was looking to connect with others is a real and fun way. And Mary-Alice has provided a platform for that and so much more. There is never a day that goes by that she, the staff or a community member doesn’t teach me something new and valuable. Even if it is not the lesson I was looking for.

I have respect and admiration for Mary-Alice. Her passion for promoting entrepreneurship is real. And her introduction of technology and social platforms as ways to foster collaboration and help fellow entrepreneurs and their businesses is a whopping success.

I miss the days of working with Paul Huizenga at CARS, Jenzabar and UNIT 4/Agresso. Paul's ability to manage multiple projects and ensure that all jobs were completed on time and within budget is well known in higher education circles. His communications skills are excellent. I've seen him demonstrate complex ERP solutions and through his use of "real-life" examples make it look easy. He can regal clients with business stories. Paul has drive, determination and is a “go-getter” in anything he does. He also is one of the most likable personalities I know. I trust Paul to handle any technical problem or communications job with skill. He will guide your project to success. I'd count myself lucky should we work together again.

I have known Dave Monaghan throughout his work experience with CARS and later at Jenzabar. He and I have continued to stay in touch as friends when we no longer worked together.

But friendship aside, Dave Monaghan is perhaps the best salesman and customer service advocate I know. Keep in mind that I have worked with over two dozen of the best in a 20-year career in sales and marketing. Dave is able to keep people happy and remain productive when others are not and this brings about sales.

One of my favorite “Dave Monaghan” stories is to recall Dave’s first sale of an ERP system for CARS. What was most remarkable about the sale was that it was negotiated and completed during a two-day demonstration. No one else has ever completed a CARS sale in one trip. Dave didn’t know that and simply followed his natural sales instincts. We all were impressed by this achievement and I have remained so over the years.

Dave’s success with customers and associates alike is remarkable and largely do to a personality that people just relate warmly to. He is the brother you miss or the son you would like to have – I’m sure you get the idea. Dave doesn’t rely on charm, however. He also tackles the toughest assignments. He has, for example, successfully sold unpopular license upgrades to customers when other sales people couldn’t.

In summary, Dave has shown the kind of initiative that is necessary to be successful over the long-term in the higher education field. He has excellent sales skills, yet remains focused on the overall needs of the client. I know that he has an excellent future in the higher education market. He is a conscientious worker and has an excellent work ethic.

"Owning It, The Aspiring Entrepreneur’s Guide to Planning & Launching a Successful Business" by Cate Costa was recently purchased as a Amazon.com Kindle download. Kudos! This is a great book for the person new to business. The book offers compelling information on how to start a business venture the right way without the customary fluff. As the founder of identityXperts and two other startups, I was looking for something to orient my wife and others to what we entrepreneur’s go through. This does the job quite well. Its an easy read yet covers all the key elements of launching a successful business. Cate deserves to be on a short list of business and management consultants to other business owners. Shawn is an industrious person and a successful business entrepreneur. He makes the sale. But, also, to his credit; his experience and hard work has certainly improved the world around him. Small colleges benefited from his early focus on administrative processes in higher education. And lately his work with tools for evaluating and improving student writing have had a positive impact on the lives of students. Shawn has excellent communications skills, high energy and a positive attitude that brings success to him and the organizations he favors. Knowing Shawn for a number of years; he is devoted to customers and they to him. I would highly recommend him for any sales position focused on information technology.

Troy is a qualified project manager who has a customer-centric approach to work and a proven track record of delivering results. His experience ranges from vision and road plan mapping, budgeting, new product development, to user experience, back-end technology, requirement writing, and new product launches. At FAME he leads teams and virtual teams and works in an agile environment. I know him as an approachable leader and team player with excellent relationship, communication and interpersonal skills. He finds creative solutions to problems that others may not. I would welcome the opportunity to work with Troy anywhere.

It is a privilege for me to commend Chris to you. When Chris worked with me he had complex implementation projects to lead and he performed his responsibilities with distinction, gaining customer satisfaction and bringing projects in on time and under budget. Chris is a talented, bright, energetic, competent, dedicated and creative person with great communication and relational skills. He can be counted on to perform with professionalism, quality and excellence.

I knew Paul as the Senior Business Analyst at FAME Inc. Customers love Paul. And with good reason. His industry experience and technology skills combined with a positive winning attitude gets the job done. I've seen Paul successfully manage large, complex projects that could easily have failed, but didn't. I hope always to have him on my team.l

I knew Robert as the Senior Technical Writer/Editor at FAME, Inc. I would not hesitate to recommend Robert and I wish him well on all his future endeavors. He is a professional, senior technical writer of the highest caliber, who meticulously researches, formats, edits and proofs his work. I was impressed by how thoroughly Robert researches a subject and how quickly he becomes an expert. He has the ability to assess the needs of various target audiences, grasp technical information quickly and produce user-friendly materials that are technically accurate and easy to read. He is very reliable, flexible and meets deadlines. It's been a pleasure to work with him. I hope I get the opportunity to work with him again in the future.

I first met Alec when he was doing technical writing at CARS/Jenzabar. Eventually he joined my marketing team and I was able to promote him twice as well as recommend him for Law school. He has since passed the bar and is a practicing Lawyer.

Alec has always been a pleasure to work with. He is highly professional with a positive attitude and high personal integrity. The marketing materials that he produced for Jenzabar show his creativity, communication skills, and research ability. He was well respected by his team and has the ability to motivate others for greater productivity. I worked directly with him on a variety of activities. He has demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills in his interaction with a wide variety of temperamental Executives.

When I started with CARS, Len was the best salesperson in the company. He was tenacious in generating leads and converting them into sales. He was my mentor in learning the sales process: easy to work with, a great coach and patient teacher. His ongoing thirst for knowledge is evidence by his completion of Six Simga training. Len's customers love and trust him. I strongly recommend Len for sales and sales management opportunities.

I new Rich as the Product Manager & Implementation Consultant at CARS/Jenzabar. Rich is a proven experienced product manager who directly affected the success of CARS Information Systems. His ability to manage and strengthen our alumni development software solution placed him at the vortex of company life during one of the most exciting times in our industry. Rich helped us by prioritizing across a variety of development projects, streamlining our internal processes and also helped us to build a compelling road-map.

His performance on information technology projects was exceptional; deliverables were high-quality, on schedule, and within budget. The bottom-line he is very efficient, professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Richard Hobson if you need a seasoned professional to help get any product management job done.

Randolph Dukes was Business Systems Analyst and Senior Product Manager at Campus Management when I was there. Randolph is a hard-working self-starter who invariably understands exactly what a project is all about from the outset, and how to get it done quickly and effectively. During his tenure at Campus he impressed me as a resourceful, creative, and solution-oriented person who was frequently able to come up with new and innovative approaches to his assigned projects. He functioned well as a team member, often providing influential leadership.
